PLEASE NOTE: Our tours fall into three basic categories: Highlight, Standard and Extended. We also offer Antietam Plus and Campaign Tours. Highlight Tours (2 hours): This tour is designed for those with children or people on a tight schedule. The 2 hour tour covers the Cornfield, Sunken Road and Burnside Bridge overlook.

Standard Tour (3 hours): This is our standard tour and includes an introduction to the Maryland Campaign at the Visitors Center as well as stops at the Cornfield, Sunken Road and Burnside Bridge. It is designed for individuals or groups seeking general knowledge of the battle and the battlefield. The Standard Tour is comparable to our old 2.5 hour tour although it is now 3 hours long.

Extended Tour (4 hours): This tour is designed for those visitors interested in exploring the battlefield in greater depth. It includes all parts of the Standard Tour however time is built in for additional stops or extended time at the 3 Standard Tour stops. Note: Walk-ins are not available for Extended Tours.

Antietam Plus Tour (6 hours): This 6 hour tour includes a Standard Tour of Antietam and a trip to one other battlefield, of the visitors choice, associated with the Maryland Campaign (either Harpers Ferry or South Mountain). All Antietam Plus tours originate at the Antietam Battlefield Visitors Center. Note: Walk-ins are not available for Antietam Plus Tours.

Campaign Tours (8 hours): The Campaign Tour covers all three battlefields of the Maryland Campaign (Antietam, South Mountain & Harpers Ferry). The tour originates at Antietam and travels to South Mountain and Harpers Ferry to explore the battles that preceded America's bloodiest day. After touring South Mountain & Harpers Ferry you return to Antietam for the 3 hour Standard Tour. Note: Walk-ins are not available for the Campaign Tour.

Customized Tours: If you are interested in a particular part of the battlefield or a specific unit or if you have an ancestor who fought at Antietam guides are available to provide a Customized Tour for you of two, three or four length. Walk-in tours are not available for Customized Tours.

Hiking or Biking Tours: We also offer hiking and biking tours geared toward youth and school groups. Walk-in tours are not available for Hiking and Biking Tours.

Walk-in service: Guides may be available on a walk-in basis on a first come first serve basis during Antietam Visitor Center hours (9-4). Walk-In tours cannot be guaranteed. The only way to ensure a private guide is to book your tour ahead of time; the further ahead the better. Payment is required upon booking your tour. If you cannot make your tour you have up to 24 hours for a full refund. Tours cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will not be refunded. If you are running late please call the museum store so we can alert your guide. Without notification, guides will wait for at least 15 minutes before your tour is cancelled.

A guide can be booked online, during checkout choose "No shipping for Tour/Donation/or Antietam Partner" as your shipping method. The shipping information page includes a space to fill in the date and time of your tour.

Your guide will drive your vehicle during the tour so please allow one seat open.

If a tour group arrives after the scheduled tour start time, and has not informed the guide they will be late, the tour guide may choose to leave. If this occurs, tour fees will not be refunded.

Tour rates are based on the size of your group and the length of the tour in accordance with the following rate schedule:

Tour Prices: (Tour prices do not include admission fees to Antietam National Battlefield which are $4.00 per individual, $6.00 per vehicle or $100.00 for a motor coach)

Highlight Tour:

1-10 people: $65.00 per 2 hours

11-29 people: $120.00 per 2 hours

30+ people: $140.00 per 2 hours

Standard Tour:

1-10 people: $95.00 per 3 hours

11-29 people: $170.00 per 3 hours

30+ people: $200.00 per 3 hours

Extended Tour:

1-10 people: $120.00 per 4 hours

11-29 people: $220.00 per 4 hours

30+ people: $260.00 per 4 hours

Antietam Plus Tour:

1-10 people: $205.00 per 6 hours

11-29 people: $325.00 per 6 hours

30+ people: $385.00 per 6 hours

Campaign Tours:

1-10 people: $265.00 per 8 hours

11-29 people: $425.00 per 8 hours

30+ people: $505.00 per 8 hours
