On Friday July 11th, 2014, Monocacy National Battlefield, in partnership with the Western Maryland Interpretive Association, is offering a full day of in depth interpretation commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Confederate attack on Washington DC. This National Park Service event will depart at 9am from the Monocacy National Battlefield, 5201 Urbana Pike, Frederick, MD., 21704, and follow the Confederate approach from Monocacy, through Urbana, Summit Hill Farm, the Grace Episcopal Church in Silver Spring, to Fort Stevens itself in Washington DC, 150 years later to the day! In addition the tour will include a guided ranger tour of Fort Stevens and a visit to Battleground Cemetery in Washington before returning to Monocacy by 4pm.
This one of a kind trip is $50 dollars a person and includes a boxed lunch. Reservations can be made by calling the Antietam Museum Store at 866-461-5180.
Please meet us for check-in at the Monocacy National Battlefield. You may arrive as early as 8:15 am for check-in, the tour will begin at 9 am at the Visitor Center.>
